Last night we attended the holiday potluck dinner at our church. It is sponsored by the Men's Club at our church. The food is always fantastic at these potluck events. Everyone brings their best dish. I brought my ever-popular Hot German Potato Salad. One item in particular was noteworthy: stuffed jalapenos. The elderly gentlemen who makes these wouldn't give out his recipe. But those jalapenos were really really good. Right before the dinner began, two of the Men's Club members came and sat at our table with us. They were trying to recruit Dan into the church Men's Club. Their descriptions of the Men's Club meetings was hilarious. Their recruiting strategy went like this (pretty much the elderly gentleman's exact words): "We'd like to recruit some of you younger guys into the Men's Club. For a long time the youngest member of the club was 67 years old. Now the youngest member is 44. Being a member is real easy. We meet the second Tuesday of each month here at the church at 6 pm. From 6 to 6:30 we drink beer. Then the next 45 minutes we eat a good meal. Then we talk about club business for a few minutes. And then we drink some more beer." Dan told them he would be glad to join but that he travelled quite a bit for work so wouldn't be able to make many meetings. This was fine with them.
